Details: Boating, hiking, and camping are the main attractions at Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA), which encompasses more than one million acres. Voyageurs National Park serves as its western boundary, and Canada's Quetico Provincial Park borders the north. The area is more Wilderness than not, with at least 1,200 canoe-trail miles of portage-linked lakes and streams. Further embellishments include 18 hiking trails and nearly 2,200 designated campsites (complete with box latrines and steel fire grates).
